When I boot into safe mode my computer hangs for a little while not showing the desktop or anything, but I can access Task Manager and start programs via Task Manager, but Then it says something about running in safe mode, it's not something I have seen before... I have scanned with Avast AV, Ewido, Spy Bot, AdAware, Windows Defender, CCleaner, they have picked up a few things, just not nothing to be too concerned about, just tracking cookies and a few programs that I have had for a few years now... I close out Explorer.exe then reopen it to see if I can get the taskbar, but nothing works, I can see my desktop icons, but no taskbar...

P.s. I am running Windows XP Home edition SP2.

Interesting enough.

Did you just upgrade to SP2 and then start noticing this?
Or perhaps a new Hotfix?

Alright, the popup that was talking about Safe Mode was talkin' about using System Restore, but I can't use that anyway... But, I have recently installed some Windows Updates, the service pack has been installed for about 2 months, if that... Before I installed the last updates, I would say it was working fine, but I'm not too sure, because I usually never have to boot into Safe Mode. The only reason I have had to boot into safe mode is because I was trying to delete a program that came from no where, I have no clue who downloaded it, It was called Trust something, it also came with TrustIn bar for Internet Explorer.

Thank you, but while searching, I haven't been able to find any of the things you have posted? Although, I did find the TrustIn Bar registry enties...

Why dont you do this:

Follow these instructions carefully

Download ALL 10 programs and update if needed.

Ad Aware SE Personal Free

Ad-aware Messenger Service Plugin

Ad-Aware VX2 Cleaner Plugin

Spybot Search and Destroy Free

Windows Defender 2 Beta

HijackThis

Ewido

CCleaner

Cleanup!

Follow these steps

Delete the prefetch folder C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch, this folder will come back on next reboot.

Go to Add/Remove programs and remove any offending programs such was weatherbug, search assistants, etc.

Delete all cookies and temporary internet files in the control panel, Internet Options.

Go to Start, run, type msconfig, go to startup, disable everything except your antivirus, Firewall, click apply, don¡¦t reboot yet.

Download Msconfig Cleanup below

Msconfig Cleanup

Run Msconfig Cleanup after you unchecked the items you were told to uncheck and recheck, click "Select All", then click "Clean up Selected", then click "Quit". Make sure your antivirus and firewall are not checked.

Now run each Spy ware program 1 by 1. Running all 3 at the same time will slow most systems down.

When each program has finished scanning, remove everything.

Now go to the recycle bin and delete everything that is in it.

Then run CCleaner „² make sure you run the Cleaner section of Windows and Applications and then the Registry Cleaner. Make a backup if you wish while running the Registry cleaner when it asks you.

When finished with the scans, reboot, and go into Safe Mode and run these scans again, remove everything they find, and then reboot back into Windows in normal mode.

Then run HiJackthis!

Save the log, copy and paste the log on www.techist.com
Do not attach the log, copy and paste always. This will make things go much faster.

This came so quickly because I have already done all this, thanks for the help though. Here's my HiJack This! log.
