yes building new is a good option... i'll show you which parts to get..

just another question...

do you have a link to the powersupply that you have, the 450watt one? or any details. (brand, amps on 12V rail..)

the less you have to buy, the better parts you'll be able to get..

looks like you can keep your hard drive, opitcals, PSU, case, operating system...

for 300-400 $ (i'm guessing you're from the states) you'll get a pretty decent system.

The power supply I got at Staples. Local puter store. I can try to find something off the back of it if needed. Yes I'm from the states. I'll check the ps.

ok.. this is what i would get:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16813130050

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16820141225

total: 383.92 - $20 mail in rebate = $363.92 + shipping + tax (if applicable.. if you live in California/tennessee)

this is hoping your 450watt powersupply will be enough... if you don't want to risk it.. get something like this..

$41

isn't there a sticker on your powrsupply? something that has a bunch of numbers?

something like this

and make sure to check pricegrabber to see if you can get better prices on those components.. they usually have good prices and free shipping at zipzoomfly.com

which state do you live in?

I'll take the cover off and look. Wow thanks for the help. I'm gonna start checkin out prices. Let ya know how I make out. I live in Pa. and u?

lol i was asking where you live to see if you get taxed from newegg or not, and you won't ;)

i live in Vancouver BC.

good luck.

All seems to look good but I did notice with the MSI MB some complaints with it. Will that be a factor. I imagine I'd have to learn how to set up the bios?

as long as nothing arrives dead, you should be able to install them right away.. no need for bios update...

just wondering, did you already purchase the parts?
