I was hoping to re-install Windows XP Home on my Dell, but all Dell gave me was a "recovery disk?" which I guess just lets you restore your files or something. A while ago, I called Dell, but they said they can't send you a Windows XP disc, and that you have to pay extra when you buy your computer if you want one. So anyways, can I download a CD of Windows XP Home somewhere? I could just use Belarc Advisor to find out the serial of my copy of XP Home and then put that in when I reinstall. Would this work? Thanks.

The Dell recovery disk is windows of sorts. It restores your compter back to factory settings.

Would downloading a windows xp home cd work though? No big if it wouldn't, but I was never able to delete the dell stuff of my computer in the first place and it would be nice to have Windows and nothing else. Thanks though.

Yes using a windows xp cd would work but you would need to download the drivers for your motherboard/ graphics etc.
