Oh crap, I expect all your boot files were on the linux partition so we're probably labouring in vain.

Ok enter

cd c:\

then enter

dir

do you see NTDETECT.COM, ntldr, boot.ini and a bunch of other files?

Lol, I laughed out loud at that one.

It worked.

-------------------------------

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi<0>disk<0>rdisk<0>partition<3>\WINNT
[operating systems]
multi<0>disk<0>rdisk<0>partition<3>\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional"/fastdetect

ok so I'm assuming now that you only have the one hard drive, one partition and windows is on it.

create a new boot.ini on another computer (make a text file then rename it boot.ini) with the following

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect

then copy it to a floppy disk and overwrite the current one.

c:\copy a:\boot.ini c:

Yes, there is only one hard drive, after deleting the linux partition there is now only one partition, and Windows 2000 is on it.

And curses, I don't have a floppy drive around, lol. The only one is in the broken PC. I'll try to figure something out.

you might be able to use a usb drive, I dont know if win2k has drivers for it, I know XP does.

Anyway, good luck coz i'm off to bed now (1am here).
