Buying Computer - Some Questions

It's just the version of Pixel Shader... so far Shader 2.0 is what's been used in video games, but new games are starting to use 3.0. If the GTO doesn't have 3.0, it could become a problem. However the memory bandwidth of that card is awesome. Tough choice!

heh yeah it is.. since so many people have said "id go with either" it really doesnt help @.@; the prices are also close, about 30 dollars I believe

ive been searching google with x800gto vs x1600pro and ive found ALOT of topics on this problem and im hoping to find one with a decision..

"btw, in my opinion your best choice would be a 6800GS but Newegg doesn't have it in AGP8x, only PCI-E." ABXZone forums

Some X800GTOs can get their pipelines unlocked from 12 to 16, and the card becomes a X850. However as far as I know, this is only possible with a very few cards, and I don't think the Gigabyte card is one of them, so forget about that.

As for the interface, I'm looking at the PCI Express one, of course. I forgot to say so: all three cards I'm considering are the PCIe versions. (The GA-K8N doesn't have an AGP slot hehe)

I think it is, but I can't buy it here. I'm pretty much limited to the three cards I mentioned. Heck, here are the links to the exact models I can buy:

PowerColor X800GTO 256MB GDDR3

PowerColor X1600Pro 512MB DDR2

Gigabyte GeForce 6600GT 128MB GDDR3

All three cards PCI Express of course, and the price is not an issue, I can afford any of them.

well the only thing I can really suggest is wait for someone who can reply with better help than me x.x;.. but im going to stick to my second choice and say go with the gto.. it seems its faster.

Yeah, it's my choice as well, if only by a small margin. Thanks for your comments, they were really helpful, and let's hope some more people can comment on this topic
