dude, u gotta leave the zalman on w/ fresh thermal paste for (recommended) 100hrs and have at least 10 thermal cycles before it starts working optimally
 
i'lll take it as well....well then since both users want it cut it in half

though that'd make it useless

I thought mine did too, as there is four holes. After closer inspection, it seems there are pins in the holes...for whatever reason.
 
Okay, there's definately something wrong...

Those temps I gave were with the case side off, since I was doing some wire reorganizing and zip-tying...

I put the side back on... The temp goes up to 36 degrees! Take it back off... Down to 26. The side door has a vent, but I have it taped over, for a more consistant airflow... I guess I'll make a cardboard vent to my CPU fan tomorrow.
 
Your temps aren't going to be as low when you put the side on. Even with your cardboard vent, they will still go up.
