If you want to OC as far as you can then i wouldnt recomend an XFX since it is OCed already. I was told they do that pre OCed thing to the ones that dont have as much headroom. Not sure if thats true anymore but it could be.

I'm not talking about headroom, I'm talking about top clock speeds. as far as I've seen, the XFX Extreme Edition gets higher top speeds than most 7900 GT's.
one site I saw said that XFX and Leadtek pay Nvidia a little more to get higher rated GPU's.

Headroom=topspeeds. The headroom of a processor is how fast you can get it before you hit a wall.

I got my 7900 GT yesterday. (XFX Extreme Edition) what a difference it made! even at stock.
I can now run pretty much every game I play at max settings (though I don't have FEAR or Oblivion)

so far I've got it to 560MHZ, with the stock cooler and at stock voltage (1.2V)
the cooler is also fairly loud, so now I'm definately going to get the VF900 when I can.

after I get the VF900, I'll probabbly volt mod it and see if I can hit 700MHZ

3dmark05 actually runs at smooth framerates with my 7900. I used to get about 2-4fps, haha
