My Advice: wait 2 weeks, get a much better processor (Athlon64 X2 or a conroe) at the same price. The AM2 sockets are drastically decreasing in price and the conroes are coming out on the 27th.

from what the reading has shown a 3800 X2 is going to be around the 160-70 USD area... possibly less depending on the store and yes a dual core is better than a 3500, for that reason alone. Dual Core. I'm having a problem with your link, so I can't see the mobo you picked out, but if you want the 3500 and as long as the mobo has all the requirements you need, then go for it.

Edit: Since I have fixed the problem, you didn't pick a mobo...
what are the specs for the rest of your system? That will help in trying to help pick out a mobo.
