my northbridge heatsink is hot enough to burn myself on. :(

is this much of a problem?

i dont have exact reads as it is a dell...

should i just leave it? i suppose it has been that hot for over a year now... and it does have warranty anyway. if it were to break, could it in anyway affect my HDDs?

oh dear... :(

you can get a chipset cooler (basically a small heatsink, or hyou can get a larger one with a small fan on it)

if its under warranty I wouldnt worry, and if its always been this hot, then its probably fine....

yea... i wouldnt want to void the warranty by replacing the heatsink... maybe they wouldnt find a dab of AS5 though.

yea, it is all stable.

in regards to what you said though, the chip is always going to be hotter than the heatsink. ;)

true :p. physics should have told me that. if that weren't the case then there would be no temp delta and therefore no movement of heat :amazed:. i think that's my cue to hit the sheets. just got back from kalgoorlie (that is about a 600-700km road trip from perth for those who aren't australian). gotta love being the most isolated country in the world
