adding another hard drive

i just finished school and im keeping my hd and i want to put it in my comp at home. i know how to hook it up and everything. i just wanted to know how do i format it, erase everything on it. same way w/ just one hd. and do i have to install an os onto it.

Well, for example: if your going to install WinXP. put the installation CD into the Optical Drive, boot from the CD. once it loads temp files then it should bring you to a screen which will show the specs of your HDD. (ex: 56120MB) From that screen you can delete, create partitions and format. go ahead and format it and then go along with the installation.
