CD ROM only recognized randomly?

Hola!

Well, this one is easy to explain: when I boot up, in the first screen, the primary master/slave shows my 2 hard drives...but the secondary master sometimes shows "NONE", sometimes shows "56x CD ROM" (the slave to that one is the 48X CD Burner).

I have checked the IDE cable connections...so my thoughts now are to troubleshoot with a new IDE Cable, then a new CD ROM?

Any feedback...appreciated!

What is the model fo the cd-rom that doesnt always start? I have had this problem with a past cd-rw

Crap...don´t have it here, but I am pretty sure it is a generic model...
