So, I'm browsing Newegg, looking for memory for a computer build. DDR2 for the new Socket AM2 of course! I come across a 2x1GB pair of Patriot sticks. DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) memory, 4-4-4-12. Not great timings, but good for DDR2. However, the rebate (Which made so desirable) ends today. My question is: Would buying a significantly cheaper stick of memory with CAS latency timings of 5 rather than 4 really make that much difference? We're talking $200 for CAS latency 4 and $160 for CAS latency 5. Is the forty dollars worth the tighter timings? I heard DDR2 doesn't respond too well to manually bringing down timings, too.

So, please, discuss, and teach me all you know about memory.
