Does anyone have any experience with AMD's warranty? I was looking at their site and it mentioned that using a non-standard HS/Fan will void the warranty, but does using a different thermal paste void it as well? This will be my first build and while I want to overclock, I don't want to void the warranty, not yet at least. I want to make sure I do everything right.

I was originally planning to get a Zalman AM2 hs/fan but figured I can drop it for now and grab it at a later time when I decide to OC. I was also going to get artic silver 5 TP, but I won't bother if it will also void the warranty.

Anyway, as I mentioned I looked through the AMD website a bit, looked at the warranty parts, but couldn't find my answer.

Here is my wish list, I plan to order it tomorrow or today some time. Getting the X-Finity 600w from ZZF also.

Thanks

dude, u cant overclock and expect to get around it, unless of course if u clock it down, and reinstall the old HSF, i dunno how they can tell it was used or overclocked, can some1 explain this.

for $1500 you could do a lot better... i just put one together for like $1300 (not actually put together.. on here i mean..)... and its better than your build.. check it out.. (you can use case/fans stuff you chose..)

and John -- I was asking for now, I plan to OC at a later date but I want to make sure everything runs properly and I didnt skrew up the i nstallation etc etc as this is my first build, I know it will be voided when/if I do OC it, but not right away

The only thing that I would suggest is getting OCZ gold or platinum ram instead of Corsair XMS. Better for overclocking in general.

Originally did the Corsair as 1. Corsair is generally reliable and 2. It is a sweet price for DDR2 6400

Quick Question, would I be better off getting the 7600 w/ 512MB memory? It's GDDR2 & 400/800 vs 580/1500 (750?) speeds. Doubt the increased memory would help much, but thought I'd ask. I'd rather full textures etc than any AA/AF/HDR when it comes down to it.

Thanks again.

In numerous benchmarks that Tom's Hardware has run, it doesn't seem that there is much (if any) difference between 256MB & 512MB memory on a video card..
