OK I have a budget of 2000 USD and have put together a list of everything. Please rip it apart and tweak it, give me any suggestions u have. I will be building in begining to mid august. (conroe is already preordered, as supplies will be short when it first launches in 2 weeks)

PS. this is a gaming computer that will not only be running the 19" lcd but a 26inch hdtv with 1366x768 resolution.

I have plans to later on in the year upgrade another raptor hd to get a raid 0 configuration, and maybe SLI (I know the board doesnt support it now but rumors that asus will release bios update that will allow it. if not its not a big deal.)

The motherboard won't work. Only one motherboard with the 975X chipset works, the Intel "BadAxe." And even then, you have to get Rev.304 of the board.

Just wait like the rest of us for the other boards to come out.

the only problem about waiting for other mobos to come out is that I need the computer fully built by end of august. I am leaving for school and need to have it done before that. the board specifically says it supports conroe, where is it saying that it doesnt?

1) There will be PLENTY of Core 2 Duo mobos out by the end of July.
2) First, start of by telling us where it says it supports Core 2 Duo?

to infomatic, it DOES support Intel core 2 Dou..... it specifically say so on asustek site......... read first, say 'facts' later on.

But its overpriced right now, i'd wait till mid august if I were you, other then that, doesnt seem like you need us, you did a great job building your pc's specs hehe.

Though if you can affored, get a x1900xtx it pwns any Nvidia card I know of , and also you ARE buying an ATI supporting mobo, any ATI card would work better than a nvidia card on it..

By the way, I don't see any point in preordering. I want to see more proof before I get this new CPU. There's no point in getting a motherboard now, either.

Hey, if there's a shortage and Conroes aren't widely available by the beginning of August, I'm sticking with an Athlon X2. I don't have time to bang my head against a wall over and over again.
