I have a P4 with 1mb cache and default 2.8 ghz

Say if i was to overclock it, how much would i over clock it to and how much juice should i give the vcore?

I currently have it overclocked @ 3.0ghz with
VCORE- 1.4875
EXTCLOCK- 220

And it is about 50C idle

What do u sugest i OC to?

Sounds like a Prescott... they run hot normally... I've had a 2.8 Northwood on an Abit board up to 3.3x with a zalman 7000, so with a prescott you should be able to handle that and possible a little more with the proper cooling. Oh, and I didn't touch the Vcore at all while doing it.

yeh thats quite hot!
if u do too much overclocking u could damage it
so maby its beta to leave it at wat it is because wat u could safly do would not be much and it problaby be not worth it
assuming u didnt upgrade ure cooling
if u did it might become more worthwile

dont touch the vcore untill you actually need to, you should be able to go a fair way without upping it at all. only up it when it gets unstable. remember upping the vcore ups the heat output, lots.

Yeh those prescotts are rediculously hot! They are quite happy to run hot though, I have seen some prescotts get over 80 degrees, and quite happy chugging along with out it even becoming unstable! I would get a better cooling system for it though as when overclocked they go wild!
