ok, I've got a fairly new build that I have been extreemly happy with, but last night I went to sleep and got woken up by a long tone from my system speaker. It was about a 2-3 second tone followed by a pause and then repeat. Still groggy, I hit CtrAltDlt with no response; then I used the case restart button, which worked, but before it got to booting, I got the same tone pattern. This happens every time i start the computer. There is nothing OBVIOUSLY wrong inside and all I can gather is that somehow the motherboard took some kind of hit. Again, the beeping comes before ANYTHING else, no drive reads or anything. Any suggestions?

If your motherboard is new within the last 3-5 years and your comp isn't made by IBM your motherboard is almost certain to use thhe Award BIOS. Here's a link to their beep codes, find which one that the beeps sound most like (one long, two short beeps, for example) and see the description for the cause.
