Friend is having issues with vid card and windows

"Wheee traded my ancient 64mb mx440 for a inbox Forsa FX 5200 128mb. Good card it seems... just agp 8x grr.

Supposedly, agp 8x SHOULD work on agp4x...right? Well it does. It postsfine... so i could use bios n such but then when window sloading comes...the splash screen never pops up. In safemode, it stops at the infamous mup.sys. Now, i tried reinstalling windows...but guess what, it freezes half way :'(

...as described, cant get into windows with card in. To worsen the deal, i have a working 4mb ati rage pro... but, obviously, downloading nvidia drivers and trying to install em wont work lol ...DANGIT>"

It won't even boot into safe mode?
alot of nvidia cards are not 4x/8x just 8x. It's ether that or the card is no good.

have u tried resetting the bios or telling the bios that the card should run in 4x
random things like that often help
also try installing an older version of windows
who knows?
