well if its a game like counterstrike.... i'm pretty sure an awesome processor isnt necessary.. i've played doom 3 on p4's at school, with onboard graphics, and they ran just fine

Yep......most Intel CPU's work okay for gaming....but if you are benching, which alot of the gamers are into, they fall far short of AMD.

If you can find a Northwood with 800Mhz FSB (HT enabled) that would definitally be a better choice. I chose the Northwood for my system a while back, and it runs 30 degrees load.

i was interested until i saw it was a stupid rebate for that price... anyway... anything that'll outdo this old 1.8 ghz celeron will make me happy! i'm looking to spend maybe 140 in upgrades on this comp.. ram.. cpu and a vid card

im running a 2.66 northwood and its performed very well for the past 3 years....still pretty fast
