I have my eVGA 7900GT Manual Overclocked via the Display settings to 558MHz core clock frequency and 872 MHz memory clock frequency. It idles at around 53-54C, and after running 10min or so of RTHDRIBL it's hitting 74-75C. Would it be a good idea to get some kind of after-market cooler? What type is best for a 7900GT? I see people mention Zalman as a good name.

They are not insane.

Insane is doing a 1.7 V mod with Air.

Then your looking Idle tmps around the 80's and load all the way up to the high 90s

Thats insane.

His temps are perfectly fine.

temps are fine, only reason to get another heatsink now would be because you don't like the noise.

last night i had my 7900gt out of the case cuz i had to work on some fans and it was in the way. i decided to pop off the hsf and check out the thermal paste. It looked like at least mid-grade thermal paste (grey/silver, but too pastey white to be high grade) I wiped it off (it was kind of dry and chunky) and put some fresh AS-5 on it.

i'd rec doing that... the factory thermal paste is crusty/crappy.

i'm expecting to see at least a 5*C drop
