ok so ive decided to build another pc so i can have 2 computers running cs source at once in my room.

This is what ive already got:
420w psu
cd rw+- drive
80gig samsung hdd
1gb pc 3200
an ethernet card
some case

This is what i need:
Graphics Card
CPU
Motherboard

These are what im currently considering:
XFX Geforce FX 5900XT $30
Athlon XP-M 2500+ $50
Abit NF7-S $30

So that makes $120

Any suggested changes to this setup for under $200

first question

why do you need 2 computers running source.

second question

why do you need 2 computers running source.

third question

why do you need 2 computers running source

*SHJFS*)S*&S

whoa, cought in a loop there.

but yea, sure..why not

well its fun when someone comes over....LAN with all my computers...

Would this run source:
Northwood 2.0ghz P4
GEFORCE FX 5700 Ultra
512mb pc2700

I built the computer in my sig for ~$350, and it runs CS Condition Zero with no problem at all (and has similar specs to the one you just mentioned).

I am assuming you meant Geforce FX rather than Athlon FX

that seems to happen alot to me lately....i told someone the other day that the book "Heart of Darkness" was written by Joseph Conroe....instead of Conrad...

ok im thinking i can get something even cheaper:
xp-m 1600+ $30
5700 ultra $30
some 462 asus motherboard $30

there 100$

Think that will play cs source?

System requirements for CS:Source..
Minimum:
1.2 GHz Processor, 256MB RAM, DirectX 7 level graphics card, Windows 2000/XP/ME/98, Mouse, Keyboard, Internet Connection

Recommended:
2.4 GHz Processor, 512MB RAM, DirectX 9 level graphics card, Windows 2000/XP, Mouse, Keyboard, Internet Connection
I guess it would work.
I'm not very sure, but I think XP-M is a notebook processor, but I wouldn't take my word for it.

Yeah, it is a mobile processor, but it will work fine in a desktop. Overclocks like a beast from what I hear.

I recommend trying to get an ATI 9-series card rather than a GeForce FX-series card. The FX-series was a major bust. 9-series cards are really good, plus Source runs better with ATI.

so the 9600 series could run it well?

Ive got a 9550 in another computer and it doesnt do to well.... i dont see how a direct x7 card would work...

9600pro? or maybe the 9600xt? what about a XFX Geforce 6500...if i get 1gb ram...i can get this 6500 for about 25$ from a freind.

looks like a 9600 series runs 50-60$... little more then i want to spend..rather put that money into the cpu...

How is this XFX 6500 in comparison? Wouldnt it perform stronger?

If i stuck under 200$ budget I could get:

Celeron D
Asus pcie mobo
XFX Geforce 6500

along with aspire 420w psu, 1gb pc3200, cdrw drive, samsung 80gb HDD etc.

That should be able to play CS Source very well.
