Say, what would you expect from the longhorn? seriously, i think other from the interface, there'd be no other difference yah? maybe more secure?

probably just some not-so-useful addons and of course the "3D interface". i read in an article that it is supposed to be released this year or early next year but Billy affirmed that it would be on 2006 instead. theyll just release a beta version this year.

Whats so special about this '3d interface'? i thought the XP had it already? hmm, so maybe it isnt worth upgrading it eh? heh...

its not like xp's 'fisher-price' desktop.. "3d" meaning when you open or close applications they will have a warping effect, opposed to just appearing on the deaktop. personally find this more annoying of a feature. there will also be translucent windows like in linux.

I'm more concerened about what they will call "longhorn".
As you probably know, longhorn is only a codename.
XPs equivilent being whistler.

Another thing that concerns me is compatibility. I guess since it's just extending from XP that we shouldn't have the big problem that we did from the release of XP since it was moving from what most users of 98 and 95 would use, the fat32 file system, to ntfs.

Anyway, i'm more interested in getting my hands on one of these beta versions legitimately, i.e. not off somewhere like kazaa or other p2p file sharing networks. If anyone knows (which i doubt) of a way to do this, i would be most interested.

i know where to get them :D but its from a webbie and i tink its illegal :X. i cant find the URL sorrie my bad

i dunno if i will ever use longhorn unless its forced upon me for some reason that i cant use another os, which im sure it will b when programs will only run in the 64 bit winblows platform. im sure ur wondering why would i say this well, someone mentioned more secure, haha talk about no security no privacy etc. when they implement this trusted computing shit into it makes it so all the authors of programs, microsoft, riaa etc all have access to ur computer, can delete things remotely and whatever else they please, just read they explain it better than me.

this is rediculous imo just when i thought it couldnt get worse in about 2 yrs when longhorn comes out it will be worse much worse
as for getting the beta, everything u do on it gets sent back to microsucks for analysis, definitely would shut off my modem while playing with it if u get it unless ur one of these ppl that dont care about privacy

i like my computer to obey what i tell it to do not what someone else thinks it should b doing

if i want to run warez, dloaded mp3s, porn, or anything else i might feel the urge to do i should b able to do so whenever i please. this is like putting a device in ur car that calls the cops on u when u start speeding and better yet gives the cops the ability to control and slow ur car down to a speed that they want. like anyone would ever buy that car outfitted with that but since microsucks knos ppl are dependent upon windows and to stay to date with technology ppl will b forced to buy into and squander their privacy away just to do everyday tasks such as reading email. linux and opensource is about to take a huge step forward

What ever happened to needing an OS to do what you need it to do and nothing more? People are installing "Longhorn" as we speak, nothing we can do about it. I wont be because I have a system (non-Microsoft) that does what I need it to do. But, the other side of the coin is.....who will answer your questions about Longhorn when the final build is released.
Some people like to experiment.....I'm one of them....

But you also have a lot of people out there with a 64-bit processor. Needless to say, they will be trying the extent to the processing power!
