I'm moving out of home and need my own computer.

I have a budget of $3000 for the computer but would like to spend around $2000

I will be using this system for a bit of everything. (Gaming, music, movies, browsing, using FTP for my website) Basically at times I will be doing intensive multi-tasking, I will have around 10-20 different things open and using bits and pieces from here an there, as I'm the owner of 7 websites including a Gaming and a web hosting site which is going to be quite well known in the next year, as they are growing quite large already)

With all of this, im going to need a system that wont get outdated in the next month lol.

I will need a system that is easy to upgrade etc. that has lots of room to grow.

I have currently chosen this system:

1 x AMD Athlon 64 4400+ Retail (939) Dual Core

1 x ASUS A8N-SLI-PREMIUM nForce 4 SLI Socket 939 Motherboard

1 x 2.0GB TWINX-3200C2(400MHZ) DDR RAM Corsair

2 x Western Digital 250G SATAII 7200 rpm HDD(16Mb Cache)

1 x XFX GeForce 7600GT XXX Edition 256meg DDR3 Dual DVI PCI-E(590Mhz)Xtrem

1 x LG DVD16X +- Super Multi DVD Rewriter with Software (Dual Layer Black)

1 x Panasonic 1.44 Floppy (Black)

1 x Antec P180 Performance One ATX MidiTower(no PSU)

1 x Powersupply Antec ATX TruePower 550W ver2

1 x Logitech Cordless Recharable Desktop Keyboard/mouse(967496-0122)

Total $2511.00 AUD

1. Are there other parts that I will need to get?
2. Will these parts work together to perform smoothly.
3. Should I upgrade any of the parts?
4. Have I gone overboard on any of the parts?
5. Are any of the parts listed got bad reputation or are starting to go out?

These are all questions that I would love to be answered.

As for the monitor that is another issue lol.
I will be getting a 32inch LCD display for under $2000 AUD but not sure what brand etc to get. That is not apart of the budget above.
Any ideas?

Please comment and help me choose a system i will be happy with for some time.

thanks.

I just got told from my friend, so this is kind of a post on his behalf, he said to change these things.

the dvd to samsung or sony

So I have chosen either of these 4

Sony DRU810A INT 16X DVD +/- DVDRW DUAL LAYER with Blk F/Plate $89.00

or

Sony DWG120AB2 blk OEM 16X DVD+R/-R DVD-RAM(No Software) Instock $50.00

or

Sony DRU820A INT 16X DVD +/- DVDRW D Layer $93.00

or

Samsung 16x DVD -/+R/RW Dual Layer OEM Black Instock $49.00

Which one should I get? and should I get 2?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

he also said "straight off the bat you need to be going a motherboard with SLI and DDR2 not DDR"

There for which motherboard should I get that relates to this.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

He said Corsair ram is really good but I should think about getting DDR2

Please comment and tell me which changes I should make.

If possible could you pull up the prices from http://www.umart.com.au/newindex2.phtml?bid=2

As that is where i'll be picking up the system from.

If they dont have the parts let me know and ill try and get them from esle where.

thanks.

ps. dont forget to comment on everything else above.

Thanks

Alright, first off if you must go with that store get this mobo : Asus M2N32-SLi Deluxe nForce® 590 SLI™ MCP DDR2 SATA2 GbeLAN Wireless Ed.

its an AM2 socket mobo which supports DDR2+SLi and all that other stuff... get the same cpu you want just for AM2... although its rather pricey....

For the RAM I would suggest to go with 2GB but that store offers crap ram products so my guess is this is the most buying -worthy:
DDR2 1024MB (2x512MB) 667Mhz Dual Channel Kit+Copper Heatspreader OCZ

about burners im a fan of sony get the first one i believe it will be fine, although i own a diffrent kind of sony.

hope that hits the spot,

-Jo.

I live in Queensland. I'm most likely going to buy this today (about 5-6 hours time)

Still very undecided about getting the ddr2 or not supported Motherboard

Overall what does everyone think about the other parts I have chosen. Do you like the case, PSU, CPU etc?

Well this is what i ended up buying

1 x AMD Athlon 64 4400+ Retail (939) Dual Core

1 x ASUS A8N-SLI-PREMIUM nForce 4 SLI Socket 939 Motherboard

1 x 2.0GB TWINX-3200C2(400MHZ) DDR RAM Corsair

2 x Samsung 300G SATAII 7200 rpm HDD(16Mb Cache)

1 x XFX GeForce 7600GT XXX Edition 256meg DDR3 Dual DVI PCI-E(590Mhz)Xtrem

1 x Pioneer Burner 16x ...

1 x Sony 1.44 Floppy (Black)

1 x Antec P180 Performance One ATX MidiTower(no PSU)

1 x Powersupply Antec ATX TruePower 550W ver2

1 x Logitech Cordless Recharable Desktop Keyboard and laser mouse

1 x Brother MultiFunction Printer MFC-640cw

Total $2803.00 AUD

Later on, I will upgrade the Motherboard (4-5 months maybe), as in about a month prices will be cut in half coz of the new intel cpu comming out, AMD will slash all its prices. But we shall see.

I'm building the computer today. First time ever building one, so lets hope nothing bad goes wrong lol.

I'm sure i'll be very happy with this setup.
