a question about conroe

Hey guys I'm new to this forum but I have a question for you, I have been out of the pc game for a while, but it's time for me to build another computer(this will be my second), I just recently heard about the new intel conroes, and how they are much better than the amd's, should I wait till the conroes come out or just go with an athlon. By the way I'm looking at the fx-57

Defiantly wait until Conroe. It is only one month and a week more to wait. (Possibly another week onto that for it to filter into the market.)

Wait for Conroe, then you will have the choice between Conroe and wayyyyy cheaper AMD's.

A FX-57 (2.8Ghz, 1MB L2 cache) is $811 and a Single Core processor.

By conservative standards, and assuming the FX-57 was a Dual Core, it would be comparable (conservatively) to a 2.4Ghz Conroe.

A E6600 (2.4Ghz, 4MB L2 cache) is $315 and a Dual Core processor.

You pick.

Y you comparin the FX-57, the Conroe E6600 beat the FX-62 (dual-core which is $1000+) But still, if a $315 CPU could beat even a $600 CPU, u'd buy the cheaper one (not talkin about any specific CPUs, just hypothetically)
