I'm having an issue with a DVD burner/reader. I've had this thing for about a year and it's functioned fine until recently. I have some generic I/O Magic dvd burner and recently I have had problems seeing certain DVD's. So yesterday I tried burning some data to a DVD and I keep getting illegal disc. I go to check my DVD burner and it shows no dvd is inserted. I try inserting some dvd's on movie I own and it shows nothing. I insert a game on CD and it reads fine. I'm wondering if this is possible hardware failure or a dirty lense? Any recommendations?

1. What is the DVD model?

2. I would first update the driver from the manufacture's website.

3. What type of DVD reading software do you have?

4. What were you recently doing before the this happened? Any type of software changes?

I put a new DVD reader in my computer but tried to use another type of DVD reading software and they werent compatable...but it seems like you have been using this before.

Check if your DVD drive is DVD+ or DVD - or some are both. you get those errors if you have a DVD+ Drive and put a DVD- Disc and try and burn it.
