I'm looking for a new graphics card to upgrade my system. I'm looking at the £100-£200 price mark so its between the X1800XT, X1800GTO and X1900GT i think. I looked at the Nvida cards and they seem to be owned by the ATI cards. But u can perswade me if u can :p. Anyone have any suggestions. I'm looking for the best value for money.

I like ATI as well, ive been looking at the X1800GTO as well so id lean towards that one.

X1800XTif your going to go with ATI.....but they have very bad drivers....no support....i like nvidia much better, and you can get a better nvidia card for less-
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814122244
the nvidia card has 24 pipelines....and 450 mhz clock speed

this is the X1900gt-
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814131428
it has 12 pipelines and 575 mhz clock speed.....yes its faster clock but half the pipelines.

this is the X1800GTO-

a little less then the other and has 12 pipelines and 500mhz clock....

this is the X1800XT-
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102663
it is a little more but has 16 pipelines..and 625 mhz clock
its a good card but overpriced

here is the X1900XT-
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102663
it has 16 pixel pipelines and 625 mhz clock
its similar to th X1800XT but has a higher memory clock but is more pricey.....

the nvidia card is less and much better....

the best value would obviously be the nvidia 7900gt

you cant compare pipelines between the two...Ati has more shaders, nvidia has more pipes...

However, in most cases the performance fps wise is very comparable between the two (in two comparable cards), yet the ATI graphics look much better. And when shaders come into play, like most new games coming out....ATI wins by a wide margin. Look up some SM.3 benchmarks of Nvidia vs ATI... not really fair... and not really a contest.

Yet nvidia does have better drivers and less headaches, sometimes that is what people want.

ew 7950, x1900xt ftw!!

which x1800xt are you going to get?? the 256mb or 512mb. get the 512mb if you are going to be playing at high resolutions or if you want to go with a cheaper solution go with an x1800gto. but DO NOT what ever you do get a x1900gt.

ati messed up big on that card, ati disabled 12 shaders. not enough performance for the money.

7950..................ATI can't even get close to this card!!!

Are you mad, I like Nvidia cards, but I wouldn't touch a 7950 with a barge pole, personally I think you would be stupid to buy one of these now with the imminent release of the G80s.

/on-topic

I'd say leave ATI and chack out an eVGA 7900GT, OCs like a beast, excellent support, great performance, great price, 24 pipes, will work smoothly on max settings with most games for a good while... you cannot go wrong with the 7900GT IMO.

I will post more later, but guys, I wouldn't be dissing ati. They have one more trick up their sleeve before the R600. (and no it's not that tripple-crossfire physics thingy)

well hurry up and tell us, in the meantime.

Pick one of these according to ur budget, u wont see a visually noticeable difference, we aint talkin benchmarks:

eVGA 7900 GT KO
ATI X1900XT

maybe the ATIs IQ (image quality) is better, but again, not that different.
