Dear all,

i have something downloaded that has a load of rar files. they are named r00 - r39, an sfv and sum other things.

now i understand that they are split files of the same archive(?). the things is....how do i combine them again?? i have winrar but what operation do i use to combine them all?

if anyone has the solution.....please let me know!!

cheers,

Don Fud

i had about a hundred of these after dloading a very large movie i only had to do this once but i think u just rite click one of the archives and extract to..and winrar will do the rest and go thru all of them automatically and reconstruct the whole file, the point of having a hundred little archives instead of one big one is beyond me. try it, it was along time ago but i think thats what i did and it worked

the reason why is because each spanned volume has a CRC check. if one part fails you can just download another one instead of the entire whole file. this is mostly for slow azz connections though. broadband makes this method uneccessary. double click any part of the spanned volume and winRAR will know how to re-combine the original files. make sure all parts of the spanned volume is in the same folder, any missing parts will make the archive un-useable

sfv are a file checker.you can use quicksfv to check if you have all the parts.
if it starts with r00,there needs to be a .rar file(that is the first file).open that file with winrar and extract to or right click on the .rar and 'extract here'
if the other things are par files(P01 or par2)
