Radeon x800xl 256mb AGP (mine) or Nvidia 6600 512mb PCI-E

My x800xl is being underclocked to 4x pipelines due to my mobo.
But apart from that, what would be better in a new system.

Would the 6600 pci-e be good, or will the power of the x800xl be unleashed, using its 18 pixel pipelines (AFAIK)?

I'm thinking of keeping the x800xl 256mb agp to save money atm. But what would be better for gaming in general?

well if you get a 6600, get the 128mb or maybe the 256mb version, 512mb is way to much for that card to handle.

i think the X800XL will do better than the 6600, but it dosent hane SM3, so it's not really future proof, but by that time you should have something like a 7600GT or a X1800GTO.

if you have the money definately got for the 7600GT or the X1800GTO

I agree, it isn't really much of an upgrade, if you want to future-proof a bit, save some cash and invest in a 256bit card like the 7900GT.

maybe get a mobo that has both pci-express and agp and use the x800xl until you get enough money for a good card like the 7900gt.. cuz the x800xl is A LOT better than the 6600 you mentioned...

Yeah he is getting a mobo which supports both, but he reccommends the 6600, but I think he just wants more money out of me

in that case keep the x800xl until you save up a good amount of money and invest in a good card like the 7900gt.
