I have a small subwoofer about a foot from my computer. Will this create enough of a magnetic field to hurt anything?

I got a corrupted HDD about a week ago, out of the blue and I was just staring at the wall and noticed my sub, and thought...hmm....what if...

Yes, if it is not magnetically shielded. But nearly all of them are these days.

Re:

...Yep,

If the subwoofer has good magnetic shielding, then there's a slim chance of it corrupting data.

Cheap subwoofers tend to have poor magnetic shielding, so in this case, or just to be safe, you should keep the subwoofer at a distance of about 1 metre away from any hard drives.

Alright. I don't know who makes it, or how much it costs, because my friend gave it to me.

I'll move it a few feet away I guess.

My subwoofer is not magnetically shielded, but my speakers are :(

Luckily i have long wires on mine, so i just hide the subwoofer in the corner.
