Another thing, i would build a new PC, or get a friend to build it, and you buy the parts. That system is probably going to cost alot, and most of the parts aren't as good as you can get off Newegg or Tiger Direct. 80GB Hard drive is going to fill up fast, and CD-RW is obsolete. DVD-RW is much better, and cheaper in the long run.

I don't really know how to build a computer and I don't know anyone that knows how and the computer is going to cost $836 without shipping and handling.

Go with the AMD one, much better for everything. BTW if you want to go with the AMD one, you will have to get a different motherboard that supports the AMD proccesor. I agree, you could build that machine for quite a bit less money by yourself.

He doesn't know much about building a PC.

But for less money, you could get an HP or Gateway with the same specs, for less money.

I would recommend this system from Tiger Direct:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1696984&CatId=0

Emachines T6412, AMD Athlon 64 3400 2.2Ghz, 512MB RAM, 200GB HD, DL DVD-/+RW, Card Reader, FireWire.

$350 :D :D

Only CONS - ATI Radeon Xpress 200 onboard video that eats 128MB RAM, so you might just want another 512MB RAM to be safe.

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2254003&CatId=0

Ultra 512MB DDR3200 400Mhz memory, just install in easily, or get a friend or store to do it.

$54.99 - $20 Rebate = $34.99

Total = $405.99, $385.99 after rebates.

Better priced than the custom one eh?
