the dell 4600 seems to be kinda popular here lately well I want to upgrade mine and from what i have been reading on here it sounds like you have to have everything exact or it isn't going to work well I checked my bios and it says that my processor is an Intel P4 2.4GHz at 533MHz
so I was looking around and I found a
Celeron 3.2GHz at 533MHz
would that be an improvment or is there something else that you can recomend. I tried to talk with dell themselves but they were not any help at all.
already got the ram picked out and the video card all I have left is the processor or do you think I should just change the ram and video card and leave the processor alone?

Your graphics slot is AGP, so make sure that the card you picked is an AGP.

Your comp also uses PC2700 or PC3200 RAM, not DDR2.

While a 3.2 Celeron will be faster, the loss of the majority of the onboard cache will slow it back down. However, I am not an expert on Intels.
