I have 4x512 stix of ram... i was thinking of buying OCZ's 2 gb 2x1g set up...if i put 2x512 and 2x1gig and added up to 3 gigs of ram would i see a BIG diff...or should i just use 2x1 and dual channel???

I would just use ur 2x 1g sticks unless the 512 ram was the same speed as the 1g stuff other wise it will slow the good stuff down

2 X 1 GB hands down

perform much better than 3gb I presume

2 X 1GB. There will actually be a decrease in preformance if you use 3GBs. Since windows can't handle more than 2GB atm it would suffer. Not to mention the fact that it's not in dual-channel is even worse. So 2 X 1GB for sure.

What's a good brand/type to buy for 2x1GB sticks? Corsair XMS and OCZ is what I've seen a lot of in other peoples builds.

thnx for the help guys.... i thought 2 1gig stix would be better BUT... i will have all 4 of these 512 Corsair pc5400C4 XMS2 667mhz stix laying around now was just wondering wat i could use them for lol

O BTW this is the Memory i am getting... i think it will work great for BF2 and FEAR... which are Mem hogs lol

then buy some corsair DDR2 1066 Ram and OC that P4 to 5 GHz and On

it does have bad timings But the new memory is a lil better with 3-3-3-12

but i dun care much about that lol

well those freaking lose timings so its not like its bad....I mean dude its PC 8500.......

Nothing wrong with P4's as long as you OC the **** out of em
