Everything about came to about $1925 total without shipping. You're going to need an optical drive (DVD writers are really cheap now), case, keyboard, mouse, better heatsink if you want to overclock or want your processor cooler, some theremal grease, monitor, and power supply. John3 had some good recommendations in his post.

thanks a whole lot AnthraX, I think I will wait for the intel duo core processors. I've only had dealings with intel but i'm still not sure which one would be the best! and also the mother board and chipset is a whole other new thing x.x all I knwo is I want the best lol

Don't forget the OS... Everyone knows we don't cheat 'ol Bill out of his money, unless of course we go with the penguin... If you go MS, then I would stick with XP for a while... I personally don't think Vista will be ready anytime soon. If you get it legal like, it'll tack on some money as well... but then you can find an OEM of Xp home for less than a 100 now a days.. XP pro for 140..

What kind of timeframe are you on? If you can wait until the end of July, the Core 2 Duo's will be out. There are some rumors going around that there will be a limited supply, but no one knows yet. If you're willing to wait until then and see if they are really worth the money and are available, I say it's worth it. But if you are needing the computer ASAP, then go with something similar to the one I suggested. The Core 2 Duo E6600 would probably be your best bet. It beats out the FX-62 (AMD's best right now), and it is about $900 cheaper. You can even overclock it like crazy. The Extreme Edition (X6800) will be the best of the best from Intel, and will most likely be amazing.
