I think I'm finally getting an LCD monitor. Besides the space savings, the room will be a lot cooler.

I know little about LCD's and am curious about how long they last. I do basic photo and video work but nothing serious enough for high end stuff.

I'm thinking of a 19" screen hopefully on sale/rebate for less than $200.

With the rebate I'm stretching on this one.

Got some tips and direction, especially on features like these?

Brightness:
Contrast Ratio:
Display Colours:
Pixel Pitch:
Resolution:
Horizontal Fresh Rate:

Thanks

LCDs last between 30,000 and 60,000 hours depending on the backlighting.

Brightness: Higher better
Contrast: Higher better
Pixel pitch: Smaller better
Resolution: Depends on what you want (1280x1024 is most popular)
View angle: Closer to 180 the better.

Widescreens are just as good as long as the game supports widescreen resolutions, you'll have no problem.
