Hey all. I know you probly all hate those that come in, post once, and never come back, so I will do my best to stick around and be a positive contributor to the forums whenever possible.

Now that that's out of the way

On my Windows XP Pro system, anytime I run an install it closes spontaneously a few seconds in. What causes this and how can I fix it?

windows update didn't show that i needed it so i downloaded it manually

results pending

edit: ran install with no results

btw, to clarify i was only able to install the installer by clicking through the menus very quickly, it installed only on the 3rd attempt.

sorry in advance for the double post

but i'm desperate, i need to install front page for a web design class i'm taking online and i can't make it through the install

anyone with anymore ideas?

if you can see the .msi file for the install, do the following...

Open a command window.( Start->Run-> cmd -> enter
type msiexec.exe /i "pathtomsi.msi" /l*v "C:\temp\install.log"

Then run the install. This will log everything that is going on during the install process. Also, shutdown your antispy/virus software. It almot sounds like a third party is closing the process...

Post the log file for us to see.

sorry for the long absence

my problem somehow magically fixed itself, the only thing i can think of is i ran some windows updates...nothing that seemed install related though *shrug*
