IDE Hard Drive

guys im buying a new hard drive for Linux, and dont know which my mobo supports, either IDE ATA 100 or 133, would either work on it, or which do i need to buy? all the driver details says is IDE ATA/ATAPI.

Im guessing ATA 100

Well..think of it this way

40 GB HD = 40 bucks.

40 gB HD x 3 = 120 GB HD = 120 Bucks

160 GB HD= 60 bucks.

its even possible your P3 rig uses ATA66 but if thats the case it doesn't matter anyway. the drives/controllers are virtually interchangeable aside from the various size barriers (in particular 137gb, requires an ATA100/133 controller)
