Making Pics smaller.

If I have a diagram/pic in a word doc and a want to make it smaller, how would I do it and do I need some sort of software to do it? If so, what software would I use please.

If you click on the picture in Word, little squares will show up in each corner. You can resize the image that way, with no additional software!
