usb hub problems

i bought a powered usb hub, as i am running low on port. i plugged it in, but now when i plug anything in on the now-free ports, windows says "usb device has not been recognised"

alsom earlier today, everything connected to it randomly stopped working, and lost power. i unplugged and replugged the hub, and look back at the monitors and i had a BSOD of usbport.sys.

i am now confused as to whether this is a hardware or software issue.

any help or advice on this would be appreciated. thanks.

sounds like a software issue. do you need drivers for the hub?

Try a different port on the PC see if that makes a difference also try updating your usb driver I have seen this before. I had a laptop that could not recodize the adapted I swapped my printer and the adapter and it worked.
