my cpu usage just when it sits there and does nothing can be as high as 100% system usage anyone know why its doing this?

I had the same problem, in the end i found that it was best just to reinstall windows. That sorted it out, i think i had some virus.

the only process that sucks up all the usage is the system process not the system idle mind you

is it reading it wrong because its dual core or something?

plus i cant even update my bios it just freezes windows and i have to restart the cpu.

Try knocking out as many unneeded entries in the startup folder as you can.

And if all else fails Reformat time. I keep my PC In top shape, but theres nothing like a fresh Format and Install. :)
