Likely dates for the new intels to see market:
June 26 - Woodcrest (Servers)
July 23 - Conroe (PCs)
August - Merom (Laptops)

They're apparantly doing some quad and 8 core processors too, not sure that will really boost performance as much as dual-cores did but should be interesting.

AMD prices are likely to drop then as well.

I can understand quad-core processors, but 8 core? That's really over doing it.
Core 2 Duo's are seen as four processors though they are only dual core due to Hyperthreading. That means "my" Clovertown processor which is a quad core will be seen as 8 processors.

probably, how ever i guess some editions will be hyperthreading supporting and some will not be, just like todays pentium D.. you can get one without HT, and you can get one for 40$ more with HT..

cause it'd be cheaper.. from 40 to 100$ cheaper, its a diffrence .. a big one

I've heard mixed things about HT in general. Let's just say that it wasn't enough to boost the P4 line in the gaming market. True cores are better than HT by far.

I'm going to guess that the only Core 2 processors that will have HT are the Extreme Editions.
