May sound like a wierd question but I have not been able to find an adapter for my USB 2.0 card, for my laptop. I have searched the net but I just can't seem to find anyone that sells what I need. If anyone can help, here are the specs of the adapter that I need, as listed in the "cheapo" instruction manual included with the card (BTW, it's a Dynex card):

Output: DC 5V/1A (2-port), 5V/2A (4-port)
Power plug: 1.3 (inner) 3.5 (outer) 9.6mm (length)

I have no idea what 2-port vs. 4-port means.....?

If it matters, I need this adapter to be able to run high power drain devices off the card, such as my external HD which will freeze the comp if run off the card alone.

Thanks for your help!
Steve

did you try going to Future Shop or Best Buy and asking an employee there? Dynex is their private brand, and they should know where to get parts for the stuff.

Thanks for the idea; no, I didn't ask them. I'm actually in OZ now so I would have to do that when I get home. I didn't even know that Dynex was their private brand, thanks.

On this subject, my laptop also has a Firewire port. Can all USB products also be connected using Firewire? The external HD I have had the cable for USB only, but if I can find a cable that allows me to hook it up via Firewire, would it work? Can't see why not but wanted to ask before buying anything....

Thanks again,
Steve

Unfortunately, you can't connect USB to firewire, or get conversion cables for them (different ends).

Also, even if it did work, you would still get the USB speed, not FireWire.

Re:

Hello,

I'm sure a multi / variable voltage adaptor will work if it uses a standard connection...
