Monster for buddy......

Ok guys. My best friend will be heading home from Iraq in a month. He needs a new desktop computer when he gets home. So, I thought Id try to put a monster together for him. He was really considering Alienware, but I told him...........lets build one. Anyway, here's what I'm looking at. Make comments and suggestions plz.

lol look at the antect True Power 550 It should do well, I have it and its rock solid.

Tiny little problem. You are getting a Socket 939 processor to go with a Socket AM2 motherboard. If you go with 939 motherboard, you wont have to change anything else. If you decide to go with AM2, you'll have to get DDR2 RAM instead of normal DDR.

Whens he due back, if he's not coming back for a while you could wait for the Core 2 Duo.

That looks really good right now.

You could possibly drop the sound card and spring for a 7900gtx.

He'll be back in about a month. The sound card is a big deal for him, so I won't change that. The video card is probably ok as well. He's not a huge gamer, but wants the ability to play if he decides to.

Well, since Im a goon and picked the wrong mobo. Any suggestions?

I just got my A8N SLI mobo, and it rocks, although you might want to spend a bit more and go for the A8N SLI Premium.

If you think he'll want to OC, look at an Opty 165 instad of the 4400+.
