I was asked by someone to build a computer capable of playing Eve Online.

This is what I'm thinkin'...

Athlon 64 3000+ s939
ASRock 939S56-M SiS756 PCI-E
Apacer DDR400 CL2.5 2x512MB
GeForce 6200TC PCI-E
Western Digital 40GB Serial-ATA
ATX Case with 400W PSU

So will this be able to play Eve Online? I don't have the game, so I have no idea what it requires, and system requirements from the developers are sometimes somewhat vague.

Also, does anyone know if that motherboard can support an IDE hard drive? I looked on the ASRock website at a picture of it, but it doesn't look like it does. It would be good if it does, because then I could up to graphics card to a 6600.

Thanks in advance.

Maybe a g60 series video card upgrade and yes.
That game is quite old and isn't very graphically demanding from what I've seen.
I'm sure you'd run it just fine with a better video card (not need for top of the line) because 1 gb of RAM is plenty and a 3000+ is entry level in my opinion and overclocks well if needed.

A 7600GT isn't in his budget. That would be like, 1/3 of his budget.

A 6800 is out of it too, the best thing I could stick in it would have to be a 6600. Realize, this is New Zealand, not as cheap here as it is over there.
