Radeon X1800XT VS Geforce 7900GT

Ok put simply im looking at these two cards

Those two cards are pretty much identical. The 7900 is factory oced and the 1800 isnt. But then the 1800 is only 16 pixelpipelines and the 7900 has 24. So which is the "better buy".

7900GT if you have that extra money. I recal when the X1800XT came out. It was out to take down the 7800GTX. That failed. The X1800XT lost in about every test. Then the X1900XTX came out and killed the 7800GTX. Nvidia retaliated with the 7900GT and 7900GTX. The X1900XTX and 7900GTX are very close. The 7900GT was about the same as the 7800GTX, with a slight edge.

Comparing this shows that:

7900GT ~= 7800GTX > X1800XT

[EDIT] Size difference as well. 7900GT takes up one slot compared to 2 for the X1800XT.

AnthraX- how can u say that 7900GT is the same as 7800GTX? 7900gt has higher clock speed and memory speed, also 7900gt runs cooler than 7800GTX

I didn't say they ARE the same. They are very close. On stock settings the 7900GT has a slight advantage over the 7800GTX (256MB). However, when comparing the 7900GT to the 7800GTX (512MB), the 7800GTX wins.

Now, this is not to say the 7800GTX is the better deal. It's not. It's over $400 for this card, and less than $300 for the 7900GT.
