CRT and a dead pixel?

in CRTs there are pixels on the screen itself made of phosphor in three components (red blue green?) if one of the components of the pixel is damaged then it won't display properly.
The CRT i'm using right now has a dead pixel.

it is possible to get dead pixels on a CRT. i used to think it was impossible too, that didn't stop me from getting one . my old synchmaster has a dead pixel towards the bottom left. i have tried it on different pc's and different video cards, heck even different OS's and drivers yet it remains :amazed:

If you abuse your monitor, the pixels can go crazy and blurry, etc.

mine is about 10 years old though. its my secondary monitor, my primary being a 19" diamondtron flat CRT.
