Hey, I'm 17 years old and a new user to this forum. This will be my first time build for a pc. I got some advice from a friend and I think I'm going to order the hardware. below from newegg. My question is, is everything compatible? Does that monitor (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16824009062) look legit for 180 bucks? What should I change?

Please read through the list of hardware and reply

Sorry if you guys can't read it, I copied it from Newegg . Does everything look compatible? I'm really not going to switch any of the parts unless something is cheaper and identical. I've never built a rig before so i'm kinda nervous.

all looks good except for i would reccomend getting either an x2 3800+, x2 4400+ or an opteron 165/170 instead of the 4200+. you can overclock any of these processors well and it would be far better value than the 4200+

I agree that the 4400 is probably the best bang for the buck.

You might want to get some experience on the basics of building computers before you start to overclock....not that it's too hard or anything, but you can really mess up if you do it wrong:amazed:

nah i wouldn't suggest you overclock on new hardware, just because its easy doesn't mean he won't mess up. keep the 4200+ its a good cpu. and nice case btw

Well if you're not going to overclock definetly get either the x2 3800+ or 4400+. the only difference between the 3800 and 4200 is 200mhz which you could easily get out of the 3800. Wouldnt need to know much about overclocking to do that. And you would save yourself a lot of money.
If you have enough money get the 4400+ as it has 1mb cache instead of 512kb.

your motherboard has your LAN adapter and sound card built onto them. if you want something fancier, then search newegg but for the most part the built on one would suffice.

here is your motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131530

here is what comes on your motherboard:

Onboard Audio:
Audio Chipset Realtek ALC850
Audio Channels 8 Channels

Onboard LAN:
Max LAN Speed 10/100/1000Mbps

the sound card isn't too fancy, but it will make sound. you'll be able to play music and everything. i don't know how much of a diffrence in sound quality a better sound card would be but i cant image it being that much better. people and their HD surround sound..... pfft, who needs it? :p

also, if you plan on doing a little bit of gaming (i assumed it since you got a 7800gt gpu) you might want atleast 8ms moniter. 12ms is a bit slow. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824021019 - could you go with that? 2" bigger and 4ms faster. think of it this way... you're playing halo... a dude pops out of no where. .04 seconds could mean the diffrence between him throwin' a nade or you shooting a fuel-rod gun.... i know it is a lot extra money, but imo its worth it. especially since its 2" bigger and sleeker looking.
