New Slot 1 Card?

Hi Guys, I got a Intel 440Bx Mainboard P2/P3 capable with a Celeron 433 chip on a Slot 1 card with a socket 370 ZIF. My problem is, stupidly I bought an 1G chip on Ebay without the supporting card. It dont work. Only 1 jumper setting on the support card which I disabled, and followed the inst on the mainboard regarding jumper settings for different clock speeds from 66mhz upwards still no go. The mainboard will automatically adjust voltage, practically a jumperless board, Tried various combinations, but the system wont boot. The board is a i440bx ITE 8679 3.3v and the residing chip is a Mendicono. Not a lot of marking on the 1G chip. Am wondering if I need another supporting slot1 card or perhaps the chip is zapped. Would appreciate any advice...Thanks

well my guess is that the chip my overheating/overvolted. if its 1ghzs it would be a coppermine or possibly a tualatin core. if its a tualatin i think there was a significant drop in voltage. the coppermine runs a lower voltage than the mendocino or deschutes cores the board was probably designed for

I take note nitestick, it's a learning curve, will get some serial numbers off the chip, see what I can do on the net.Alternatively, perhaps a bios update, but that doesn't take account of the specs you mentioned
