Still working on my dad's build. It will be his last comp and it needs to be stable & durable. We've already gone beyond what we started with in parts and budget but trying to stay close.

I want to be sure I didn't miss anything like incompatible/missmatched parts. I've read some pcie cards cover the next pci slot but I don't think that will happen here.

$113 with the rebate. I'm guessing that's about the best price I'll get for that level of a board?

How do I know what size to get ? It's hot in his dwelling so I'm guessing I need something better than standard. This is where I got confused with size 60mm - 90+mm, RPM, variable speed and dBa etc.

I think I Everything else.
Thanks for the help.

There's some multi-tasking now and then, Word, photo/image stuff and a little web work. I figured 2 paired 256 sticks on dual channel should be enough. Was thinking of OCing a bit but not sure, never done it. That's why the OCZ. The only video demand is watching DVD's so if onboard video can handle that, then that would be the way to go.

Got a couple of PATA hard drives:
300GB seagate w/Ultra enclosure $90 and Maxtor 160GB $30

I was sold on the OCZ ram but if I can double it for another $27 with the corsair and still have stability etc. then that would work great.

I like the MSI boards but those NewEgg reviews really mess with my header. The MSI K8N Neo4-F has PCIe/northbridge location problems and the MSI K8NGM2-FID has "USB Device Legacy Support" problems that fixedable, whatever that is. I think I can eventually get passed the MSI w/video problems so that could save some $.

Is the onboard video good for basic stuff and viewing DVD's and multi-tasking?

Thanks, I think we got this just about pinned down.
