hi i am thinking of upgrading my system buy getting a new motherboard the one im rthinking of getting is the ASUS P5ND2-SLI
i was wondering if i needed to buy a new pentium chip for it or can i use my existing one atm and just swap it over?

the motherboard i want is socket 775 i think so i wouldnt be able to swap it over unless i got a 478 compatable motherboard?
am i on the right lines?

You need to tell us if the current board is a socket 478 and wether the CPU is a Celeron of Prescott, Northwood core and its frontside bus speed (400, 533 or 800Mhz).

put simply a 478 pin pentium will not fit in a 775 skt mobo, if you want a new mobo without changing the processor then you have to get a socket 478 board.
There is more involved which is why we need to know the core etc..
