SLI'D 6800GS's or 7900GT?

Ok my friend went out and got a amd x2 4200 and 2 6800gs's and said they are better then the 7900gt I am about to get. Is this true because I tried looking for benchies and couldn't find one comparing the two. He also said that it will have SM 4.0 capability. Isnt a 6800gs almost like a 6600gt now? And if a 7900gt is better, does that mean he spent an extra 100 bucks for nothing? Lol

Yeah but thats Oblivion. I dont even play that game! Lol. I play Counter-Strike Source, Day of Defeat Source, Battlefield 2, World of Warcraft, and Age Of Empires 3.

hrmm from what i've seen on another site.. dual 6800gs' only got low to mid 9000's in 3dmark 05... i get that now, and i'm not even heavily overclocked.. so you'd be saving yourself 100 dollars anyway... i'd say its about even... but thats just 3dmark i would think real performance would be much different, i'm in favor of the 7900, i'll go do some reading really quick and be back

okay, i'm back.. and from what i've seen the 6800 gs in sli has a slight advantage... not a big one... but its got one... but for a 100 dollar price difference i say neigh.. i say, if you ever get the chance... buy a 2nd and rub that in his face

i'll get the links for the two, in fear the dual 6800's with 4xaa and 16xaf was getting i think 80 something fps while the 7900 was getting mid 70's soo.... i wouldnt be too concerned..

For a 100 dollars cheaper the 7900 is a much better solution.

yes, agreed! and i'm sure with overclocking the 7900 will beat both.. my 7900 has overclocked like a champ so far, i just got a new psu so i wanna try and take it further.. and beefcake thank for the suggestion on the psu, i love it, the green sleeves are awesome
