My best score in 3dMark '05 -- 8597,
Best score on TomsHardware (FX57, 2GBRAM) -- 10018.

CPU limited =\, which one?

no.... those scores just don't seem right.

I score 12,130 in 3Dmark05 with a X1900XTX 713/1785 & OPTY 150 @ 2.8Ghz - STOCK speeds I bench about 11,200 or so.

If you had no choice between the two. No doubt about it, choose the x2 4800+. 200mhz oc, and you got yourself 2 fx-55's. You're going to have buy a new mobo as well because you're switching to skt 939.

I'm doubting he's got DDR2 with those timings ...

And I'd reccomend any Opteron.

For hardcore gaming, I still say single core is the king. Many games still don't take advantage of it quite yet, but if you want it to be future proof go dual-core.

A single core may still outperform on a game slightly, but I bet you cant run an anti-virus in the background (fully checking the system) and defrag your system while playing BF2 with no lag... =)
